Brand: Kentucky Owl Confiscated
Distiller: Unknown in KY
- The Wise Man’s Bourbon
- Founder: C.M. Dedman
- In 1916, just before Prohibition, my family’s entire whiskey inventory was seized by the federal government never to be seen again. Confiscated Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a tribute to the vanished barrels of bourbon and to opportunities lost.
- Distilled in Kentucky
- Bottled by Kentucky Owl, LLC, Bardstown KY
Nose: A pronounced nose of smarties candy, candy corn, marshmallow, and a hint of orange.
Palate: thick coating mouthfeel, very low spice, not a flavor bomb. Charred oak.
Finish: medium long, black charred oak, bubble gum. Black pepper comes in late. This is a very delicate bourbon. Good for someone that doesn’t like big spice and heat.
But $150 retail price for some non-aged stated whiskey of unknown origin? This one is not off to a great start. That said, this is a nice bourbon that’s very enjoyable and easy to drink. But that’s it. I can’t really find anything very special about this. It’s nice all the way around but not super complex. My main complaint here is that it’s TOO easy to drink – very little heat or spice. A sought after trait for some people, and likely a driver of sales for many “smooth” spirits, but doesn’t float my boat.
1: Gross I can’t even drink this crap.
2: Poor I would force this down in good company
3: Bad I wouldn’t have to force it down, but it’s not good either.
4: Not Bad But still not good.
5: Just OK Average.
6: Good Above average, but not special.
7: Very Good Well above average.
8: Excellent This is a favorite of mine for sure.
9. Amazing I would bathe in this if I could afford to.
10. Life Altering Nothing could be better than this.
