Distiller: Barton 1792 Distillery
Proof: 96.6
Age: 12 years
Label Notes:
- Twelve years is a long time to wait, but patience has its rewards. This impeccable bourbon whiskey is the satisfying result of maturing for more than a decade in the finest charred American white oak barrels. Rich flavors of vanilla and cocoa abound in this full-bodied bourbon. After spending twelve years in oak, the delicate fruit notes in this whiskey are met with a lingering smoky finish that is more complex than most.

Observations
Color: Amber
Nose: Pronounced nose of worn leather, cherry, peanut butter, red apple, light caramel, tootsie roll, brown sugar, cinnamon, graham cracker, vanilla. Everytime I pour myself a glass of this I feel like I’m getting something new.
Palate: Slightly viscous mouthfeel, red apple, oak, dark caramel. Some nice spicy cinnamon heat.
Finish: Slightly astringent, very oaky. As this opens up a bit the bitterness fades and is replaced by sweet caramel and completely unexpected bright red strawberry. Lots of mint and tobacco come in late and linger.
Overall
I lucked across a couple bottles of this – one I traded to a friend for a Weller 12. The other I pull down every so often, savoring it since this is a limited release. For the money, this is a fantastic bottle at retail – some good complexity and great flavors.
